What We Do

The Bowen Technique

What we do has evolved into possibly one of the most revolutionary complementary hands-on body techniques available, with results which have impressed many academic and medical professionals.

The clinic is one of the most advanced Bowen orientated clinics of its type in Scotland and the UK, due to the volume of work we have done over the years and developments which have evolved from our extensive collective experience. Our aim is to use that experience to facilitate relief for the person being treated, as quickly and effectively as possible.

As Dr. Christine Staub at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital in the USA historically commented, “As a family physician with special interest in the treatment of chronic pain and illness syndromes, where there are cases which do not seem to respond to anything or which come to an impasse, I have seen this technique unlock the door…”

Matrix Energetics

Mary-Jane qualified in the USA as a practitioner in 2008. Fascinated by quantum physics and the morphic field, she felt the concept of transformation at the level of biological photons, would supercharge the technique she uses in the clinic.

Matrix Energetics is not a modality or therapy and therefore does not interfere with the kinetics of the Bowen technique, which other forms of body therapy do.

How you can help yourself

The body is composed of approximately 25% solid matter and 75% water. Water is required for most functions of the body for detoxification, hydration and lubrication.

According to Dr. F. Batmanghelidj if we drank more plain water daily, pain and certain degenerative diseases could be alleviated and prevented. In our modern fast-paced electronic world, with poor eating habits and high levels of stress, we do not drink enough plain water.

  • Unless medically contraindicated, on average you should aim to drink 2 litres of plain water throughout the day.
  • It is important not to have any other form of body therapy 5 days before or after a treatment with us, as it may interfere with the efficiency of your treatment. The same principle applies to using heat or cold packs.
  • It is inadvisable to do any strenuous exercise or activity for at least 48 hours or longer after a treatment. Short walks on even ground of approximately 15 minutes are recommended.
  • Do not sit for long periods of time in front of a computer. Get up from your chair every hour, even if all you do is walk around your chair! This helps to release the muscular ‘strangle-hold’ on your skeletal structure.

Any discomfort is temporary and will improve as your body adjusts its healing process.
